Greetings from Shiloh! Or should we say Spyloh? We are writing the mid-session update on our special-themed day once again. This morning every camper was handed a dossier with an assignment–they have to do at least three acts of kindness for another person in a covert way and then report back to their handler. In an hour everyone will get to reveal who their assignments were to the whole camp. Meanwhile, our dining hall is decorated as an unassuming telephone booth. It’s spy day the Shiloh way!
Right now the campers and counselors are continuing their missions. They are on day two of the workshops they started yesterday. One group is designing a campus-wide frisbee course. One group is expanding their consciousness through a workshop on spirituality while another group is building a primitive meditation hut in the woods. Our last workshop is making a multi-media report on Shiloh, hoping to publish a magazine as well as some radio stories.
Though our oldest unit is out on their trip and therefore missing both special day and workshops, it should be noted that they are healthy and happy. Hope met with them yesterday for their mid-trip food drop and the counselors were even planning to include a spy day element on their “mellow” hiking day today.
The younger units all enjoyed their hiking and rock-climbing trips to Old Rag (units 2 and 4), White Oak Canyon (unit 5) and Little Stoney man (unit 3) last week. All are looking forward to hearing what choices they will have for project week this week.
We thank you so much for lending us your wonderful children. We have been enjoying laughing and running and playing in the pond with them. See you next Saturday!
