The Last Flush for Catoctin!

By October 26, 2016 BYM, CQC, Firecircle, General

We have flushed the toilets in the bathhouses at Catoctin for the last time!

OUR CALL TO ACTION: We have the go ahead and GREEN light from Yearly Meeting and are moving on with construction of a new single bathhouse facility at Catoctin Quaker Camp. After 56 years with the old bathhouses the time has come. This new bathhouse will include 10 Clivus Multrum Composting Toilets, Tank-less Water heaters, two single stall gender-neutral handicapped accessible bathrooms (see David Hunter’s article on page 8) and enough air-flow, light and ventilation to keep this one going for another hundred years. Our plan is to have it ready for the 2017 camping season.

Not surprisingly our estimated costs have increased. In order to continue to make this magnificent dream a reality for Catoctin we need your help. We invite everyone to participate in this life-changing project for your Camping program. It all begins with you, our Friends, far and near supporting this project. Let’s build this bathhouse together.

To learn more about this new bathhouse or to find ways that you can support this great project go to or email us at Your gifts matter. They make a difference. Thank you for caring about the importance of camp for our young people today, tomorrow and for years to come.

Where exactly are we today? Follow our progress live weekly. This week is about clearing the land, next week may be about excavation. Stay tuned…. Woohoo here we go!
